Superior Jetties November E-NewsSwim 4 Kids Moreton Bay delivered beautiful blue skies and crystal clear water for the 4th annual Swim4Kids Challenge for the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation, held over the weekend of 22 – 23 October. Swimming conditions were excellent with visibility so good, some swimmers reported seeing dolphins and sharks through the shark cage whilst swimming through the Bay. The event was a great success with 67 registered swimmers raising over $100,000. All money raised goes towards funding ground breaking research to help find faster diagnoses, better treatments and ultimately cures for some of the most devastating childhood illnesses. The Superior Jetties Dream Team was once again a solid performer finishing in the Top 10 Fundraisers, raising just short of $4,000. Superior Jetties again donated UMD floats to keep “The Cage” afloat.

All going well the final handover to our client Lotte Engineering and Construction will be at the end of November.

Superior Group Visits Korea Managing Director John Hogan has had a busy international travel schedule and has recently returned from Korea where he caught up with our licensee Mr H.Y. Kim of Shinhwa Marine at the Boat & Yacht Show in Goesong. Shinhwa Marine constructed a real size Capri™ Marina inside on their stand at the pavilion, complete with new and innovative accessories including custom ladders, handrails and shade sails. John and Mr Kim also inspected the nearly completed Superior Capri™ Marina on the Han River at Youido in downtown Seoul. The new marina for the Seoul Yacht and Marina Club is due for a year end completion and presented significant technical challenges with 15m floods occurring at the location. The technical challenges have led to a significant innovation in pile technology with a new floating solution to support the Marina Club and berths even with a 15m rise in water level. The new patented technology will be released in Australia in the near future. With the first phase of berths completed and installed, the Club has started purchasing both sail and power boats which is a significant step in making recreational boating a reality in Korea - in a convenient downtown location with a population of 12 million people. Mr Kim and his team at Shinhwa Marine are to be congratulated on their great work

Superior Jetties at The 2010 Xstrata Mt Isa Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic Superior Jetties’ National Sales Manager, Leon Sines, recently attended the 2010 Xstrata Mt Isa Fishing Classic held at Lake Moondarra. Over 820 keen anglers registered to fish the 3 day event with televison personality Andrew Ettinghausen also attending to film a segement for his "Escape with ET" fishing show. After a good start on the Friday night, the weather took a turn for the worse producing unseasonably cold and wet conditions. Unfortunately, this shut the Big Barras down but all was not lost with some great catches of Long Tom, Sleepy Cod and even the dreaded Catfish being recorded. This year’s winner was Bob Dover from Kingaroy who managed to catch a solid 1.0m Barra weighing just over 12 kilograms - well done Bob! A brilliant on water fireworks display put on by 5 Star Fireworks using Superior’s UMD pontoons was the kick start to the Saturday night party, with a local live band taking things through until close on midnight. Check out some of the fireworks display - Click Here to see some video footage
