Keeping your pontoon or Jetski dock in ship shape condition is important to maintaining a valuable investment in your lifestyle.

Pontoon General Care and Maintenance

Your pontoon has been designed to give long life and trouble free operation. To avoid unnecessary repair bills, some basic maintenance will be required.

1. Hose down any galvanised steel components weekly with fresh water to remove salt deposit build up.

2. Spray all galvanising with oil based rust preventative ie: (Fish oil or lanloin) every 6 months) 3. Periodically wash all aluminium with soapy water to remove salt deposit build up.

4. Check all wire rope on winch systems, or cable supports, for fraying. 5. Grease winch (electric) yearly.

6. Periodically check rollers on piles and dry berth for excessive wear (if worn, contact Superior Jetties for replacement). 7. Periodically check security on nuts and bolts.

8. If you wish Superior Jetties to conduct an annual inspection of your pontoon, please contact us. This will be charged at a minimum cost per inspection plus repairs.

Carpet Maintenance

A regular hose down is required to remove grit, grime and any potential stains. A hose down with a high pressure washer may be required for stubborn stains.

Replacing your carpet after 7-10 years may be required, and can also freshen the appearance of your pontoon.

Piled Pontoons

Pile Brackets should be checked for the connections to the pontoon & the roller wheels. The walkway hinge brackets should be checked & greased every 12 months.

Check any bolts holding your cleats to make sure they are tight. If you have power/water connections make sure that the cables & pipes are still secured in the saddles under the gangway and make sure that there are no loose connections to taps & power points.

Strut Pontoons

Check that the Strut & Walkway hinge connections are greased and that there are no loose bolts or pins. Also ensure that cables are tight by adjusting them at the turnbuckles. Turnbuckles should be sprayed with WD40 (or similar) every 4-6 months depending on how much salt spray/wind your pontoon endures.

Cable Pontoons

With Cable Pontoons ensure the cables are kept tight at all times. Whenever you have them loose you are putting additional stress on the gangway & could cause more problems in the future.

If you live on or close to a waterway that has heavy traffic, you will require more regular maintenance checks.
