PONTOON MAINTENANCE
Keeping your jetty, ski dock or marina pontoons in ship shape condition is important in maintaining this valuable investment in your lifestyle.
We'll provide you with regular updates and hints and tips to help with this process.
Piled Pontoons
- Pile Brackets should be checked for the connections to the pontoon & the roller wheels
- The walkway hinge brackets should be checked & greased every 12 months
- Check any bolts holding your cleats to make sure they are tight
- If you have power/water connections make sure that the cables & pipes are still secured in the saddles under the gangway and make sure that there are no loose connections to taps & power points.
Strut Pontoons
- Check that the Strut & Walkway hinge connections are greased and that there are no loose bolts or pins.
- Also ensure that cables are tight by adjusting them at the turnbuckles. Turnbuckles should be sprayed with WD40 (or similar) every 4-6 months depending on how much salt spray/wind your pontoon endures.
Cable Pontoons
- With Cable Pontoons ensure the cables are kept tight at all times. Whenever you have them loose you are putting additional stress on the gangway & could cause more problems in the future.
Boat Lifts
- Boat lifts should have all connections for bolts, dogbones & hoses inspected every 12 months to ensure that they are in working condition.
If you live on or close to a waterway that has heavy traffic, you will require more regular maintenance checks. Your Pontoon & Connections should be checked at a minimum every 12 months.
Undertaking maintenance check-ups every year will ensure you save money in the long run.
