Bongaree Jetty
Bongaree Jetty, Bribie Island, Queensland
Client: Caloundra Shire Council and Queensland Transport
Project Description
This project involved the refurbishment of a historic jetty, whilst adding new floating berths to accommodate larger vessels in safe moorings, plus the construction of a new shelter shed, fishing facilities and mooring piles for future ferry berthing requirements.
Our Involvement
The project presented a number of challenges as we had to provide a complete public berthing solution, whilst maintaining the historical significance of the structure.
The overall Jetty area is approx 80 metres in length with a deep water drop-off. The floating pontoons are 20 metres long providing disabled access and 710mm diameter sleeved steel piles have been used on the outer.
The project included the provision of the following elements:
- Preparation of detailed engineering drawings
- Timber reclamation and refurbishment
- Pile repairs and new steel sleeved pile installation
- Aluminium and stainless steel fabrication
- Installation of floating 20 metre articulated berths
